"Verily,
verily I say unto you, He that hearth my word, and
believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall
not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."
John 5:24

JESUS IS THE
LIGHT OF THE WORLD

Lighthouses
assist a navigator in verifying positions and safe courses,
marking channels and warning the navigator of any dangers or
obstructions to certain routes. Usually, lighthouses can be
identified by their light color and flashing lights at night
and by the shape and color of their daymark during the light
hours. Typically, the lights shine from sunset to sunrise--possibly
a little longer due to extended twilight and/or poor
visibility. Most lighthouses today have apparatus that is
mechanically extinguished at first light. The equipment is
serviced intermittently to guarantee a reliable operation.

I started my
collection of lighthouses several years ago. At present, I
have eight
lighthouses, in which seven of them are part of
the Lefton Historic American
Lighthouse Collection. I have visited some
lighthouses while on vacations
and have found them to be quite
interesting. When Steve was in the Navy and
stationed in San Diego, California, we
visited the Point Loma lighthouse a number
of times. Our daughter got
us the Sandy Hook collectible lighthouse for Christmas
one year. Another one which I really like is the Old Cape Henry lighthouse. This
one is a limited edition one. It is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia,
at Fort Story.
I use them all over the house as night lights to light my way through the
house at
night. I will say, though, that I am running our of room to put new
ones.
