Then the alternator upgrade kit arrived. It seems to be rated at 45 Amps. That should run a lite or two!

And here's the new alternator installed after a few hours work:

Of course now it's time to do some welding, which means getting out the welder and the mother of all extension cords. A 6 Awg 50 amp extension cord is worth a photo:


I bought this Lincoln Welder in 1982 when I was a senior in high school for $105 and it's still going strong:


And so I start welding up the frame that will hold the lites:
